One of the victims who was receiving treatment said sadly, “I am grateful that we have food and drinks here, but I am in financial trouble because of the high cost of medicine. Even if I want to go home, my house is broken, and I don’t have money to repair it”.

Umbrellas are being provided free of charge from nearby stores to protect patients’ beds from the sun and heat. On the other hand, the affected areas have been hit by heavy rain and strong winds since April 5, and there is a concern that the damage may spread.

The full extent of the damage caused by the Myanmar earthquake is still unknown. AAR’s emergency relief team has entered the country and is working with local organizations to provide full-scale assistance.
