An earthquake struck off the coast of eastern Taiwan on April 3, causing many buildings to collapse mainly in Hualien City. Fatalities totaled to 10 people so far, and more than 1,000 people seriously injured, and apparently many residents have been left behind in mountainous areas. AAR Japan (Association for Aid and Relief, Japan) dispatched an emergency support team and will start emergency support, in cooperation with a local organization in Taiwan.

The AAR emergency support team will enter the affected areas in eastern Taiwan this weekend via Taipei. We will work with a local organization to distribute food and hygiene supplies to survivors in particularly affected areas, and to investigate other possibilities for assistance.

AAR has received a large number of donations from Taiwan for the Noto Peninsula earthquake in January this year, reminding us once again of the strong bonds between the people of Japan and Taiwan. We believe it is our time to support the people of Taiwan.

We would like to ask for your cooperation in AAR’s emergency support for the Taiwan earthquake.
