AAR Launches Emergency Assistance for Heavy Rain in Noto Peninsula

21/09/2024 ( update 25/10/2024 )

On September 21, the Noto region of Ishikawa Prefecture experienced record-breaking heavy rainfall, causing rivers to overflow and landslides to occur. Just as people were finally able to move into temporary housing after being displaced by the earthquake, many have returned to living in shelters due to the damage caused by the heavy rain.

AAR Japan (Association for Aid and Relief, Japan) started emergency support on the 22nd. Our activities include providing food at evacuation centers, distributing supplies to temporary housing, and providing support to foreign victims and welfare facilities.

Some of the victims were spared damage from the January earthquake, but have been unable to live in their homes due to the 1.5-meter-high muddy water from the recent floods. Some are lamenting the unprecedentedly severe “double disaster” situation, asking “Why Noto again?”

We ask for your cooperation in AAR’s support for the victims of the Noto Peninsula heavy rainfall.
