Japan Hongkongers Association Donates to AAR’s Emergency Response to the Kumamoto Earthquake

AAR Japan received a generous donation of 10 million yen from the Japan Hongkongers Association（JHA:日本香港人協会, Office : Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo） in support of our emergency response to the Kumamoto Earthquake.
On August 28, 2026, AAR met with Ms. Chan Wing In, Chief Executive Officer of the Association, and Ms. Yen Li, Executive Officer, to provide an update on the situation in the affected areas and AAR’s ongoing relief activities. We also expressed our sincere gratitude for the Association’s generous support and presented them with a certificate of appreciation. On September 14, JHA made a further donation of 4,506,780 yen.

JHA also provided generous support for AAR’s emergency response to the Noto Peninsula Earthquake. Following the recent Kumamoto Earthquake, JHA once again made a generous donation out of deep concern for those affected and a desire to support them during this difficult time.
AAR Japan President Yoshiteru Horie expressed his sincere gratitude for JHA’s generous support. Secretary General Chiaki Furukawa provided an update on the situation in the affected areas and AAR’s relief activities to date and explained that AAR would focus its future efforts on supporting people with disabilities and foreign residents affected by the earthquake.
Ms. Chan said, “AAR regularly shares updates on its activities through social media and other channels, which gives us confidence in the organization. I am particularly impressed by the variety of meals AAR provides through their soup kitchen activities. I believe these meals not only meet the daily food needs of people living in evacuation centers but also give them something to look forward to and a sense of comfort in their daily lives.”
We are deeply grateful to JHA for its generous support. AAR will continue to stand with those affected by the earthquake, listen closely to their individual needs, and work together with local communities and partner organizations in Kumamoto to provide the support they need.
